Smart Design and Super Materials Are Stretching Bridges
In December, the world’s widest cable-stay bridge, weighing more than 72,000 tons and measuring more than 213 feet wide, opened to traffic. Port Mann Bridge, outside Vancouver, British Columbia, is the second-longest cable-stay span in North America at 2800 feet, but this is no suspension bridge as is the Brooklyn Bridge or the Golden Gate.

Howdy Freshmen!
First of all, we all would like to commend you in your interest in our organization. We can assure you, that whether your foundation begins with ASCE or you transfer elsewhere, this is a great organization to become involved with. It is also a great platform to get your foot in the water for what you want, not only from a curriculum, but for your future career.
Presidential Statement
American Society of Civil Engineers
On behalf of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at Texas A&M University, I would like to welcome you to our organization. It is our mission to represent the civil engineering profession by improving our members in all aspects of professional development and by promoting the Texas A&M core values of excellence, integrity, leadership, loyalty, respect, and selfless service.
ASCE is not all about professional development though; we also know how to have fun! With a wide array of chapter-sponsored activities ranging from picnic socials to intramural sports, ASCE can be fundamental in forming long-lasting relationships with fellow students and faculty. We are interested in your success as an undergraduate or graduate student and we are here to address any questions or concerns you may have.
We invite you to join us at future events and meetings. Please use this site to learn about ASCE, find out about upcoming events, and stay connected to the civil engineering population not only at Texas A&M, but also interact with the diverse community of professional speakers who come to speak at our meetings (These individuals may also be fellow Aggies!). You’ll learn that ASCE grants an industry-centered perspective to civil engineering not seen in classrooms. We meet on a bi-weekly basis and we are here to cater to future industry-leading engineers.
If you have any questions, please email one of the officers. In addition, take a look at our calendar for more information. Fill out our membership application and find ways to GET INVOLVED.
It is truly a privilege to serve the largest ASCE student chapter in the nation. Thanks and Gig 'Em!
